| I ( Atul Kahate / अतुल कहाते) am working with Oracle Financial Services Software Limited (formerly i-flex solutions limited - www.oracle.com/financialservices), Pune as Head-Technology Practice, PrimeSourcingTM Division. I have been involved in many IT projects in different capacities, apart from being a teacher and author of a few books on technology ranging from Cryptography and Network Security to Object Oriented Analysis and Design. Of late, I have tried to dig deeper into other subjects, such as Medicine, Management, Science, Technology, History, Economics/Finance, etc. Beyond technology, I am a passionate cricket follower and have officiated as a Statistician in international matches. My cricket related articles have been a regular feature on all leading newspapers and Web sites. I have also done a series of programs on Doordarshan's Sahyadri Channel, IBN Lokmat, Star Maaza, and SAAM Marathi for explaining technology for a very common person in Marathi language. I am an avid music fan - especially Indian classical. I strongly believe that super-humans such as Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Ganasaraswati Kishori Amonkar, Pandit Jasraj, Pandit Kumar Gandharva, Bismilla Khan, Zakir Hussain, Rashid Khan have made our life far more beautiful! Of course, I equally admire (old) Hindi film music - Lata, Rafi, Asha, Kishore, Manna Dey, to name a few greats from this arena. Apart from this, I am a big fan of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Gulam Ali, Jagjit Singh as well. I am a passionate reader of computers/technology, science, finance/economics, and to some extent art and literature (altough I must admit, I am very shallow in the last two, at the moment :-(). I am amazed by the writing skills of people such as Isaac Asimov, Will Durant, Howard Zinn, Paul Krugman, Joseph Stiglitz, Achyut Godbole, Kumar Ketkar, John Gribbin, Bill Bryson, Desmond Morris, Andrew Tanenbaum, Peter Watson, Noam Chomsky, Bertrand Russell, Robert Heilbroner to name a few from various fields. Of course, it is needless to mention PuLa Deshpande, Acharya Atre, DaMa Mirasdar, Vyankatesh Madgulkar, Vinda, and other greats -- they are there by default! My greatest aim is to simplify things that I know for others, all the time. I am most grateful to Mr Achyut Godbole for being my idol in a number of ways, and it is him who has had the greatest influence on my life. I am tempted to modify/delete the following portion attributable to my SICSR students. However, for a change, I have decided not to be modest :-) - "Being an ideal mentor he is extremely popular with his students for his tremendous knowledge, helpful nature and a perpetually smiling face.
